| Hi I was looking for something different for all the family to do on the beach whilst on holiday. After surfing the web for ideas, we purchased our 1st power kite in August 1999 a Flexifoil stacker 6 from the kite shop. We first used the kite on holiday on a beach in Wales, It was amazing the speed & pulling power was incredible. My son Tom (tas2k) was just strong enough to fly the kite, my 11year old daughter Georgina, (Popsy) now the owner of the kite also enjoys the occasional flight. The stacker 6 is a good introduction to the world of kiting it has given us hours of fun. We have spent the next five years or so flying the Stacker 6. While on holiday in Italy (02), there was a couple of kitesurfers on the beach. The kites looked enormous, but they made it all look so easy surfing across the bay and back. That was it, I wanted to have a go and I’m going to arrange lessons. But work and relocation etc, we continued flying the stacker 6 for some years later. Easter 04, Tom and I went on an IKO level 1-2 course on the IOW with x-isle sports http://www.x-is.co.uk. Due to no wind we did not finish the course, we have been back twice to finish the course but still no wind, fingers crossed for 2005. Also had a days lesson in France (www.axelair.com) they are pioneers in the sport. I would recommend Axelair. As I spent most of the day hooked in and hands on. We now have a range of traction kites and equipment purchased throughout this year. That should keep us going for 2005 and beyond. (Although there could be a slot for a S/H 4-5m kite.) 2005, I’m looking forward to getting going on a kite board (board without wheels), and mastering Buggying…. Not going to be easy, as I’m getting closer to the edge of the wind window!! |
