Once again,
Flexifoil stamped there name well and truly on the Kiting Calendar by
putting their name on Europe's largest Kiting festival which was held at
Middle Wallop Army Airfield in Hampshire.
This year was
organised much the same as last year with the major except being that
the Beer tent and food stalls were in the grass area next to the Museum
car park along with an area just for Kiters who had dogs with them.
As far as I'm
aware there were no major injuries again this year although it was
reported that the local hospital had a long line of people wearing the
Orange and Green wristbands that had been issued to all traction Kiters
on the Sunday Evening.. lol
Unfortunately
quite a few of these Kiters missed the Film show that
Trebor put on with the help of
Flexifoil, an AV company and Video camera importer. This year, loads of
Kite clubs/groups/individuals entered films which were shown to the
waiting crowd on a 30 foot tall inflatable screen. These were then
judged and the winners "Team Couch Posse" were awarded a remote bullet
camera for the second year in a row. Uncle and Sparkie were both a
little upset that they didn't win, but when you consider that the
winners built and used a traction COUCH in their movie, they both had to
admit defeat. Roll on next years battle.......
The RPK who seem
to have a very good relationship with both Flexifoil and the BBC (soon
to be BPKA) helped out as Marshals on the field throughout the weekend
and more importantly in the car park and entrance and registration line,
as this gave a few others of us the opportunity to set the tents up in a
camp again...
Only 12 of the
RPK made it to FW2 this year with Jezz and Timmer being noticeable
absentees again... This year however was Sparkie, Jetset and family from
the Cambridge Kiters first visit and they were camped along side our old
friends Diggy and Morb. The Milton Keynes crew also set up near us but
our good friends from the Herts Flyers decided to setup up some distance
away, which when you see their
photos was a good idea all round.. lol.
